1974 Greco SE-500S Stratocaster (Fender LAWSUIT MADE IN JAPAN + Gigbag) ... Matsumoku Built – Pre-Serial Vintage

A beautiful pre-1975 Greco SE-500 in classic Sunburst, most likely dating from 1974, built during the early golden era of Japanese craftsmanship. This pre-serial number example features a one-piece maple neck, introduced in 1974, replacing the multi-piece necks commonly seen on 1973 models. The 1974 models were also slightly lighter in weight, making them feel more familiar to vintage Fender Stratocaster players.

The guitar also features the star engraving at the last fret, another detail associated with 1974 Greco production.

Tonally, this SE-500 delivers classic mid-1960s inspired Strat tones, often associated with players like Jimi Hendrix. The pickups offer warm neck tones, a slightly hotter bridge pickup, and excellent in-between positions. Rolling back the volume to around 8.5 on the bridge cleans up beautifully. A fantastic early Japanese vintage Strat with real character and vibe.
