MATCHED SET PROTOTYPE 1975 Maxon U2000 ... 7.75k / 8.16k Neck & Bridge .. Eddie Van Halen SOUND + Mythical '59 Burst PAF Replica EVH (Ibanez Super 70)
€190.00
A rare matched set of 1975 Maxon U2000 prototype humbuckers, built by Nisshin Onpa during the legendary Japanese “lawsuit era.” These pickups were developed by reverse-engineering late-1950s Gibson PAF humbuckers from the iconic 1958–1960 “Burst” guitars, resulting in warm, open and highly dynamic vintage tone.
This matched set features 7.75k (neck) and 8.16k (bridge) outputs — the classic vintage formula with a slightly hotter bridge pickup for added bite and clarity, while the neck remains warm and articulate. The pickups feature open black bobbins, original braided wires with good length, and natural vintage patina from 50 years of age.
These early prototype examples (serial starting with “1”) are significantly harder to find and highly sought after by collectors. Research also links these pickups to the legendary Ibanez Super 70 Humbucker, famously associated with Eddie Van Halen’s early tone. A rare and authentic vintage PAF-style matched set from Japan’s golden era.
