PROTOTYPE 1973 Maxon U1000 Embossed Greco Humbucker ... Mythical '59 Burst + EVH Brown Sound Van Halen ... 7.86k PAF Replica (Ibanez Super 70)
€140.00
A rare 1973 Maxon U1000 prototype humbucker, built by Nisshin Onpa during the early Japanese “lawsuit era,” when manufacturers carefully reverse-engineered late-1950s Gibson PAF pickups from the legendary 1958–1960 “Burst” guitars. These early U-series pickups are known for their warm, open and highly dynamic vintage tone.
This example features the rare 1973-only embossed chrome cover, a distinctive early design detail highly sought after by collectors. With an output of 7.86kΩ, it delivers classic vintage PAF balance with clear highs, woody midrange and excellent touch sensitivity. The pickup shows beautiful natural patina and retains good lead wire length.
Prototype examples from this early period are significantly harder to find, especially with embossed covers. Often linked to the early Ibanez Super 70 designs and tones associated with Eddie Van Halen, this is a highly collectible and authentic vintage Japanese PAF-style pickup.
