A rare 1978 Maxon U2000 humbucker, built by Nisshin Onpa during the golden Japanese “lawsuit era,” when manufacturers were carefully studying and recreating late-1950s Gibson PAF pickups from the iconic 1958–1960 “Burst” guitars. These pickups are known for their warm, open, and dynamic vintage tone with excellent clarity and touch sensitivity.

This example measures 8.07kΩ, placing it perfectly in vintage PAF territory with a balanced output suitable for both neck or bridge positions. The pickup shows natural vintage patina consistent with its age and retains good lead wire length.

Collectors often associate these Maxon-built pickups with the legendary Eddie Van Halen early tones, as they share similarities with the famed Ibanez Super 70 humbuckers also produced by Maxon.

A highly desirable vintage Japanese PAF-style pickup from the late-1970s, offering authentic “lawsuit era” tone and strong appeal for collectors and players alike.
