Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Op-Amp ("IC Muff") dates to the late 1979–1980 period and features the sought-after Tone Bypass switch. Famous for its association with Billy Corgan's legendary fuzz tones on Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins, the Op-Amp Big Muff delivers a tighter, more aggressive and highly saturated sound than earlier Triangle or Ram's Head versions.

Based on the original CTS potentiometer code 1377951 (51st week of 1979), the green PCB layout and overall construction, this pedal is believed to be a Version 5 Op-Amp Big Muff, though some collectors may classify it as a very late Version 4 due to the transitional nature of production during this period.
